Getting to Know Virginia

If you spend much time in Blowing Rock, you have probably already seen Virginia. Lots of curly, red hair. Maybe with one to four of her kids in tow. Often carrying her slow but sweet little dog, Jacques le Blanc, who is too old to walk. That's her on the left with her two youngest celebrating her 2019 Top 50 Realtor award.

A Blowing Rock resident since 2007, Virginia's a small town girl originally from the eastern part of North Carolina - from Mount Olive - the pickle capitol of America. She's a Carolina alumna, but she somehow has a daughter at NC State and a son headed to WCU. She's known to frequent Camp Coffee by Footsloggers, Bistro Roca, the Speckled Trout, and exercise classes at Chetola.

When she is not helping people achieve their real estate goals, Virginia tries to give back to our community by serving on the Middle Fork Greenway's Task Force and the Blowing Rock Town council. She is also active in the Blowing Rock Methodist Church during the summers and the Boone United Methodist Church during winters. Her husband, Ben, is an entrepreneurship professor at Appalachian State University and her webmaster. Blame him (me) for any problems with website.

Buying property in the High County is different. Views, southern exposure, wells, powerful winds, radon, winter accessibility, Internet access, cell reception, idiosyncratic houses. You need a skilled, experienced local realtor. Virginia is primarily a buyer's agent. She has the skills and experience you need to navigate even the most complex buying situations. You'll spend a lot of time speaking with your High Country realtor so you need someone you like. You'll enjoy working with Virginia. Call or email her; you'll see.

The more listings that realtors have, the less time that they can commit to each one. Virginia takes her responsibilities to her clients very seriously and thus limits the number of listings she maintains. She is primarily a buyer's agent, but she maintains up to 10 listings for clients and properties with whom she feels a good connection. If you are looking for a listing agent, call or email Virginia and start a dialogue to see if there's a good fit.
